THE ANGLER'S HANDBOOK

Your first catch starts here.

Take a moment to learn the rhythm: find the shore, charge a cast, then follow the fish.

01 — Find your spot

Enter a display name and choose an angler colour on the Play screen. Once connected, use WASD or the arrow keys to walk. You can also hold the right mouse button to move. On touch screens, use the on-screen joystick.

Approach the edge of a lake, river or the sea. Water blocks walking, and casting is only possible close enough to a shore. The minimap helps you find other bodies of water. The location shown in your session panel updates after a successful cast.

02 — Cast and wait

Aim the mouse toward the water, hold the left mouse button to build cast power, then release. On a phone, hold and release CAST. If a cast is rejected because you are too far away, walk closer to the bank and try again.

Once the float is in the water, wait for a bite. Different fish have different waiting times. You do not need to press a hook key: a bite starts the reeling minigame automatically.

03 — Follow the fish

The fish moves up and down a vertical channel. The green zone is yours to control: hold to lift it, release to lower it. Keep the fish inside the zone and watch the progress indicator.

Use short holds and releases instead of holding continuously. The zone has momentum, so release a little before it reaches the fish's height. Adjust again when the fish changes direction. A harder fish gives you less room for error.

The fish's identity stays hidden during the struggle. A successful catch reveals its name, rarity, weight and score. A failed catch gives you another chance to cast; the collection records successful discoveries.

04 — Explore and collect

Open Field guide from the bottom toolbar to see what you have caught during this session. Try a different body of water to find a different catch pool. The leaderboard compares total catch value in your current room, not a permanent global score.

Your name, skin and mute setting can be remembered on this browser. Your fish collection and score are session progress, so leaving or losing your connection may mean starting again.

A bigger challenge: Leviathan

When a Leviathan bites, the game presents a choice to reel or run. This is a cooperative encounter with a much greater risk than ordinary fishing. Nearby anglers can use ASSIST to join the effort and play their own reeling minigame.

A successful team catch rewards the participants. If the fight fails, the group can be dragged into the water, lose its session score and return to the entry screen. A disconnect or abandoning an active fight can also affect the group. Join only when you are ready to stay for the encounter.

If something goes wrong

The Play button stays on Connecting
Check your internet connection. If the server is unavailable, try again later. Reloading can end an existing session.
My cast is rejected
Move closer to the water's edge and aim toward the lake. A decorative sign is not itself a valid fishing spot.
The green zone keeps overshooting
Try shorter holds. Release early so the zone can slow down before the fish changes direction.
I cannot hear anything
Use the sound button and check your device volume. Browsers may require a click or tap before game audio starts.
